    BEST SELLERS ON SALE NOW

    Touring Shorts

Available in 3 lengths and sizes XS-3X, these are the best shorts for bike touring. There, we said it. Equipped with an impressive feature package that’s ideally suited for multi-day bike travels, our Touring Shorts are made from a tri-blended fabric that was specifically developed to keep you dry, comfortable and supported. It has a moderately compressive fit and includes our dedicated Flex Air Touring chamois, one of the most padded chamois we offer. The Touring Shorts are among our best selling and most loved collections of shorts and are the ones we recommend to riders of all levels and sizes.

These shorts are meant for climbing, and that’s just what they’ll do! I bought these shorts before going to France to ride, and I am happy to say that they are GREAT! My husband and I logged almost 90 miles, and climbed over 10,000 feet, and they (and I) still feel like new!

    Breakaway Short

A Bicycling magazine Editor’s Choice and a firm favorite of the gals at FemmeCyclist, the buttery-soft Breakaway Short packs an incredible level of features and value into a performance cycling short. Available in black or charcoal, this highly rated short has sculpted paneling, a minimally compressive and moisture wicking soft nylon/spandex fabric, and our premium Fleet Air chamois that’s ideal for almost any duration of time in the saddle.

My Breakaway shorts are my GO-TO short and I probably own about 8 pairs. Love the padding, weight (light), waistband, and length. Nothing compares. Thanks again, Terry for keeping me comfy AND stylish.

    Chill 7 Short

Call it bias, but the Chill 7 Shorts are this blogger’s personal favorite. Sleek and simply constructed yet technically ingenious, they use the latest in fabric technologies to eliminate the leg band and instead seamlessly integrate silicone against the thigh to prevent them from riding up. The result? No bulge, no pinch and no sausage effect, despite the Chill being one of the highest compression styles we offer. I love the ultra-wide waistband and the 7 inch inseam is perfect for shorter riders such as myself or anyone who wants to show some shin this season. Outfitted with our thinner Flex Air Lite chamois, this is a great summer performance short, but don’t just take my word for it:

I love these shorts so much, I bought spare pairs! The waistband is comfortable and stays in place. The same with the gripper free legs. The fabric is light enough for hot summer riding, and the chamois, while effective, is compact enough that my riding buddy had to ask if it was padded since she didn’t want to get caught staring at my backside. I would definitely recommend these shorts.

    Linda S.

    Long Haul Short

Our goal with the Long Haul was to design a lightweight performance-level short that would be up for the challenge of centuries, high heat situations, international touring and gravel riding. To hit our marks, we started from the inside out and gave it our new Flex Air Max chamois that provides an additional dual-density layer of padding that adds another level of comfort without increasing bulk. Minimally constructed with a combination of high compression fabrics and its longer inseam length helps reduce muscle fatigue while the lightness of the overall short makes them incredibly comfortable.

Super comfy!! They are the best shorts I have ever purchased!! They keep me comfortable on my long rides.

    Patti V.

    Easy Rider Short

The use of a sensuous performance fabric and the complete removal of a leg band define this Terry staff favorite. The Easy Rider is made from a sueded, matte-finished nylon/spandex fabric that gives it a unique and luxe texture and is equipped with a super wide waistband, our Fleet Air chamois and raw-cut legs. Designed so you can wear it comfortably for rides of most any duration, this is one of the best values you’ll finding during our Memorial Day Sale and beyond.

Easy Rider checks all the boxes. I love the matte finish and the fabric is light and breathes. Check! The waistband and bandless legs add to the shorts flattering fit. Check! Comfortable and washing well after multiple rides. Check!

    Rover Short

This trail blazer provides women with a longer length, 2-piece short/padded liner combo that can be pulled on easily and comfortably worn on or off the bike. It’s been tested out on Italian bike tours (where it excelled at truffle hunting), on the singletrack of Montana, and has even become part of the unofficial workplace uniform for Team Terry. Made of a recycled stretch woven polyester, the Rover has an easy-fit printed mesh waistband, 2 front zippered pockets to secure essentials and a 13 inch inseam that provides excellent coverage without inhibiting mobility. It comes ready to ride with our padded Universal Liner that can swiftly be removed when you transition from gravel to travel or from bike mode to work mode.

Bought these & 3 other clothing items. All were the perfect fit, very comfortable, easy to care for, & I got many compliments. All my future bike clothing will be coming from Terry!

    3/4 LENGTH, 4/4 PERFORMANCE

    Bella Prima Knicker

The Bella Prima Knicker is our best-in-class performance bottom that extends coverage below the knee and comes with our top-of-the-line Flex Air Carbon chamois that is faster drying, has heightened antimicrobial and moisture wicking properties, and is naturally antistatic. Made with our sublime French nylon high compression fabric with a satiny matte finish, it’s a sleek, multi-season riding bottom with lots of additional features you don’t typically find in women’s cycling capris, and a fit that has made it an essential for cyclists of all varieties.

Do I recommend these? Oh yes, yes, yes! I already have a pair of these Bella Prima Knickers & love them so much I purchased a second pair. Chamois is fantastic, waist stays where you want it, no binding on the leg edges, fabric is perfection where compression is concerned plus it’s quite stylish. Sizing in right on also. What’s not to love?

    Lorraine D.

    Bike Knicker

With more coverage than shorts and less heat than tights, the Knicker is one of our most popular cycling bottoms for all-season riding and has the same design elements as our esteemed Touring Shorts. It is made from the same great tri-blended fabric blend, is available in sizes XS-3X and of course, includes our dedicated Flex Air Tour chamois.

I finally found a pair of bike knickers that don’t give me hives after a long day of riding in the heat. These feel more like leggings than the typical spandex bike tights, and yet still are snug on my legs to prevent chafing. I’ll definitely be buying another pair!

    Natalie M.

    Breakaway Knicker

After our Breakaway Short was awarded Editors’ Choice by Bicycling magazine, we knew we should also offer it in a longer length for more coverage and seasonal usability. The Breakaway Knicker, available in black or charcoal, is now one of our most popular bottoms and is made of a silky, lightweight performance fabric that allows you to use it comfortably in a wide variety of temperatures without overheating or getting sunburned.

My search for the best riding knicker has ended – I found the Breakaway and it’s perfect. Fabric, fit and length combine to make the most comfortable knicker to ride in. It’s comfortable in hot weather, a real plus for this summer.

HEIDI ACROSS AMERICA: One Woman’s Journey on a Bicycle through the Heartland

In the summer of 2010, author and slow travel enthusiast Heidi Beierle had just finished her first year of graduate studies in Community and Regional Planning and embarked on a solo bike tour and research trip from her home in Eugene, Oregon to the Preserving the Historic Road Conference in Washington, D.C. What started as a research trip studying bicycle tourism and rural economic development, evolved into an intimately physical and psychological encounter with self and nationhood.

At the time of her journey across America, Heidi was 35 and admittedly didn’t love much about herself except her ability to endure grueling physical undertakings. She viewed this expedition as an opportunity to fix her failures and insufficiencies while highlighting her strengths. There were also some pressing research questions she wanted to explore: Why do people live in small towns and what do they like about it? Did a cyclist like herself bring economic benefit to the small towns she visited? What could communities do to support or invite cyclists to stay in their towns? What could cyclists do to support the communities?

From the Pacific to the Atlantic, she was surprised by the kindness of strangers and the emotional toil of her journey. This trip led her to travel through Wyoming, where she grew up and where the wind, dryness and desolate landscape made a lasting imprint on her. It took her through the Plains and into the Ozarks where the heat climbed to agonizing temperatures and every mile felt one closer to defeat. She faces these tribulations head on and reflects on how her upbringing taught her self-reliance, the beautiful dimensions of solitude and how to push through the pain, one pedal stroke at a time. Throughout her travels, Heidi discovers a newfound compassion for herself and a growing love for her country.

And throughout her journey and observance of others, her questions began to morph and mirror things many Americans are asking themselves today: How can I be okay in my own skin? What does it mean to be enough? How do I satisfy my desire to travel without harming the planet? What does it mean to love America?

For many young people, it is a rite of passage to set out on an adventure to see the world and expose themselves to new experiences, however, we often think of these experiences as occurring overseas and in far off lands. Heidi Across America presents a journey to self-love, played across America that exposes the reader to the diversity, awe, and wonder, that’s available right here in our nation. In this book, Heidi transverses many landscapes and heavy-hitting topics, allowing us to sit sidesaddle as she meets new friends, encounters old demons, and finds herself on the bike and her connection to the heartland.

Heidi Beierle’s memoir, Heidi Across America, is what we all need to read in our current climate of cultural and political division. Beierle brings her open-hearted curiosity to every roadway, every diner, and every person (or animal) she encounters, offering the reader a glimpse into what it really means to be a true citizen of a homeland as vast and diverse as the United States. On a bicycle and depending upon the kindness of strangers, this author takes us on a journey that is more than a grueling ride through the heartland. It is a guide for all of us to slow down and really look at what is right in front of us. If you need a shot of optimism and hope, Heidi Across America will put it right into your veins.

Cami Ostman founder of The Narrative Project and author of Second Wind

This intrepid, honest, compelling, introspective travel memoir is beautifully descriptive of the rural parts of the United States as it ranges from the mountains to the plains to the cities. Cyclists, armchair travelers, and women exploring new directions in life will be drawn to this book.

    The Breakaway

Despite being 400 pages, The Breakaway from #1 New York Time best selling author Jennifer Weiner is a page-turner that can be engulfed in one weekend, and ideally from a hammock, camp, beach or lounge chair. This warmhearted, empowering novel is much more than a romance, with themes of friendship, body positivity, the complexities of mother/daughter relationships, secrets and the power of choice, all on the backdrop of a life-changing bike tour.

Our protagonist, Abby Stern, wants to believe she’s made it to her happy place, yet can’t escape the feeling that something isn’t right. She’s got good friends, her trusty bike, a cycling club in Philadelphia, and is on track to marry her childhood sweetheart, Mark. She’s in her thirties and finally at peace with her plus-size body—at least, most of the time—has an apartment in one of the greatest cities in the world and while she may not have a “career” is finding her stride working gig jobs. So why does something feel off? Well, for starters she can’t stop thinking about the thrilling night of passion she had with a man named Sebastian two years prior….

When Abby receives a last-minute invitation to lead a 700-mile bike tour from NYC to Niagara Falls, she views it as the perfect opportunity to take some space from Mark, have a chance to reflect and make up her mind on her happily ever after. But things get complicated fast. First, Abby spots a familiar face in the group—it’s no other than Sebastian, the sexy stranger and one-night stand she thought she’d never see again. In spite of their undeniable chemistry and previous connection, Abby is determined to keep her distance. The next unwelcomed twist? Abby’s diet-and-weight obsessed mother, who she blames for a lifetime of body shaming and insecurities that she’s still trying to overcome, joins the tour as a surprise addition. The Breakaway is told through several POV chapters with the most POV narration stemming from Abby and Sebastian. However, this way of storytelling provides a glimpse into the lives of many of the cyclists on tour, creating a dynamic and relatable cast of characters.

Over the two week tour, strangers become friends, hidden truths come to light, a teenage girl with a secret unites the riders in unexpected ways…and Abby is forced to reconsider everything she believes about herself, her mother, and the nature of love.

The Breakaway is delightfully suspenseful, sexy and just so much fun. Our romantic hero, Abby, is refreshingly poised, confident and human, acknowledging her flaws while not sizing herself down—literally and figuratively—to fit into any societal standards. This rom com is both breezy and thoughtful, with Weiner touching on some serious issues while maintaining a light-hearted tone that allows you to sit back and enjoy the ride.

A journey that’s as much about self-discovery as it is about exploring new territory on wheels.

    – The New York Times

Incredibly fun…A lovely, compulsively readable story about finding your path and believing in your own worth.

  • TERRY’S GUIDE TO FINDING YOUR SADDLE SOULMATE.

The Terry team hears the question, “How do I find the right bike seat for me?” a lot, so we took our knack for problem-solving and did something about it. We created our Saddle Selector, an easy-to-use online tool that delivers personalized recommendations based on your unique riding needs. It’s our shortcut to narrowing down the many choices to just the models that are right for you, your butt and your bike by asking six simple questions. So, what are we asking and how does it lead to your saddle soulmate?

    Start with your gender.

The perfect saddle for your needs will be determined by your gender, age, and riding position more than any other factors. Those considerations will narrow down the options for width, shape and cushioning by a lot. As you might expect, our Women’s Saddles are generally a little wider, Men’s Saddles are slightly narrower, and Unisex saddles fall in between.

Many manufacturers put a lot of focus on sit bone spacing, often with quite small variations sold as the “right size” for a specific anatomical measurement. We say phooey to that. After matching hundreds of thousands of cyclists to bike saddles that deliver outstanding comfort, we’ve learned a few things, including the important realization that exact measurements of sit bone spacing, are just not that helpful in the “real world” of riding.

Each of these saddles is right for somebum.

    Here’s why:

Sit bone spacing is measured as the distance between centers of the ischial tuberosities, AKA the bony bits in your butt that contact whatever you sit on. While your sit bones do indeed support the bulk of your weight, this can only be a starting point, because cycling is dynamic. When you’re riding, you are shifting your posture all the time, moving both forward and backward, and using your torso, which rotates your hips and shifts your weight on and off your sit bones, and can push your soft tissue areas further forward.

During your ride, you might strain on a climb, launch a sprint, position for cornering control on a descent, brace for a headwind, ease off to coast down a hill, navigate tricky turns and obstacles, lean back to catch your breath and so on. In short, you are moving around on your saddle all the time, with different parts of your undercarriage supporting your weight through different contact points the entire time you are riding. It isn’t all about the sit bones, but your soft tissue and general comfort, too.

Our bike saddles are designed with all this in mind. There’s a correct width saddle for most riders, but it’s not based on an exact dimension, rather it’s a scope that gives each individual cyclist the support and relief they need through a range of shifts in position. For this reason, our saddles fall into a few broad groups where a balance of width, profile, shape, and padding all combine to make it really comfortable for a group of riders with common characteristics.

If you already know you need a narrower or wider saddle, or one in between, you can start there. Otherwise, choose the category for your gender and start narrowing down further with the following questions.

    What’s your next birthday?

Never ask a gal her age, unless it’s to help her find the right saddle. While it might seem like a cheeky question, your age will affect your saddle choice as you approach or pass your 50th birthday. Our bodies change as we age, and this includes our nethers, with differences in skin thickness, connective tissue, sensitivity, and so on. You may find as you age that a saddle style that was once very comfortable, may no longer be so. Denser foam padding, the addition of gel padding, and a generous cutaway profile can all become very important to the comfort of mature cyclists.

What is your go-to riding position?

Once you have the right width range sorted out, the next consideration is your riding posture and the range of positions you go through on a typical ride.

Generally, a more upright position means less fore and aft movement, more consistent weight on the sit bones, and thus a wider platform is best, and the rear of the saddle plays a bigger part in your overall comfort. Recreational, hybrid riders, e-bikers and commuters are often in this position.

In an aerodynamic position, you reduce wind resistance by lowering your torso. This more aggressive positioning is frequently used by road cyclists as well as others who like to push themselves to ride faster, like gravel cyclists. Cyclists like time trial specialists and triathletes rarely break from an extreme aero position. When riding like this, the hips rotate forward and put less weight on the sit bones and a lot more pressure on your soft tissue, often resting on the middle or even the nose of the saddle.

In between those extremes is the slightly forward position, used by many people who ride for pleasure or endurance. In this position, you have some aero advantage, but you’re not riding for high speed. You will most likely move on the saddle as you transition from one effort to another, so your comfort depends on adequate support toward the rear of the saddle, as well as the profile and padding of the center and nose of the seat.

Slightly upright — Slightly forward — Aerodynamic

If you are unsure of your exact positioning, choose the option that’s closest, as all Terry Saddles are designed with the following:

    • Narrowing as much as possible through the mid-section to avoid chafing
    • Contoured shaping of foam in areas that come in contact with soft tissues
    • Wide rear with enough bearing surface for both sit bones; flat rear that won’t cause pressure between sit bones

What kind of terrain and riding do you do most often?

The terrain you tackle most often and the length/frequency of your typical rides go hand in hand. The more bumps and jolts you encounter and the longer you ride, the more cushioning you will require to stay comfortable.

While a paved country road in good condition may give you a bump-free surface to glide along for miles, a different one with potholes, ridges, and fracturing asphalt can be just as bumpy and shocking to your rear as an off-road trail. The only style of riding that guarantees a truly smooth ride every time is indoors. That being said, the kind of surfaces and trails you plan to transverse will determine how much padding and shock absorption you’ll need.

Terrain and the type of riding you do will also affect the silhouette of your saddle. For example, MTB riders who are moving in and out of the saddle frequently, and even move behind it for descents, need a profile that won’t catch on shorts or get in the way of all that moving around.

How long do you ride and how often?

The amount of time you spend in the saddle can have a big impact on the seat padding you need, but not in the way you may expect. It may seem counter-intuitive, but it’s often the cyclist who rides less frequently and doesn’t go as far who requires the most saddle cushioning. A saddle with a thicker layer of padding can also be ideal for cyclists who ride without a chamois.

If you often ride more than a couple of hours in a day, you may appreciate a thicker layer of padding, or choose to opt for a saddle with a gel layer, which offers an extra level of shock absorption.

What discomfort or saddle struggles are you dealing with now?

Our Saddle Selector was designed to recommend solutions for the struggles and sensitivities our riders frequently face. When it comes to these sensitivities, the areas where discomfort is felt and the type of discomfort being experienced can both come into play. If you are sensitive further forward, in your soft tissue or experience numbness from perineal pressure, a profile with a larger relief channel and lower nose will help. If you feel pain primarily on your sit bones, or sciatic pain, a larger, more padded rear platform will be your savior.

Riders who suffer from chafing on the inner thighs can look for a more ‘T’ shaped saddle with a narrower nose, though they may find more relief by upgrading their bike bottoms. In addition to having a great saddle, it’s important that your cycling clothing fits well and that there isn’t excess fabric or padding bunching through the crotch. A premium chamois that reduces bulk (like Terry’s with their signature soft wings) can help with improved moisture control and a tapered edge profile. Higher compression fabric can also reduce chafing contact between your thighs and saddle. Together these may do more to reduce chafing than the shape of the saddle. Sometimes, it’s not the saddle that’s the problem, but what you’re wearing to ride.

Floats on roads and trails like a butterfly, definitely doesn’t sting like a bee. First introduced in 1999, the Butterfly Saddle family has been a go-to for cyclists of multiple disciplines, from gravel enthusiasts to ultra-endurance racers. Wider in the rear than your typical “T-shaped” race saddle, it comfortably supports a woman’s anatomy and is completely cutaway through the nose and mid-section making it flexible against soft tissues, especially when in a slightly forward riding position. The low profile, flat top allows the rider to move around easily and features injection molded foam with enough stiffness to boost the power in your pedaling. We’ve used this best selling silhouette to create 8 models of Butterfly Saddles, with slight variations to align with different riders’ needs.

    Liberator X

    The Liberator X Gel Italia

With over 100,000 currently on the road, the Liberator X series for women has earned its reputation as one of the most comfortable saddles for nearly any kind of rider. We recommend it to people who are in a slightly more upright riding position on their bike, have a high degree of saddle sensitivity, ride great distances, tour by bike and are likely to ride daily. The ergonomically-shaped back panel of the Liberator X reduces the points of stitching contact between you and your saddle. Defined by a wider, contoured rear, large cutaway with extended depression off the back, and more padding throughout, Liberators are an excellent option for bike touring or anyone experiencing discomfort in the perineal region. To appease all sorts of riders, we offer this saddle in 5 models, including gel, elite and Italian-made options.

    Cite X

The Cite X Gel Italia is available in three screen-printed graphic covers.

If you’re a recreational rider, e-biker, or ride nearly upright and want the closest thing to a pillow, come meet the Cite X. Its completely seamless, heavily contoured top with a large cutaway will hit and miss in all the right places and provides great relief to those who spend half a day or less in the saddle or are experiencing significant lower back pain. Shock-absorbing elastomers molded into the saddle base mirror the effect of springs without the need for any mechanical devices. The Cite X also helps eliminate vibrations from the road or any other surface that ordinarily gets transferred straight to the spine. A durable synthetic top with rear graphics is easy to maintain and will look new for years. Available in 3 models with eye-catching graphics and 2 with an additional layer of gel padding to cushion your tush even further.

    Topo

The Topo is available in two colors, Black and Kingdom Gray

Our Topo mountain bike saddle for women takes everything we’ve learned about saddle comfort and tailors it to the specific needs of female mountain bikers. Made by hand in Italy, it’s a sleek, low profile design with a narrower-shaped, flat rear platform that aids in climbing performance and quick rear dismounts. The center has one of our widest cutaways to increase comfort and eliminate contact with pressure points. And what really defines Topo is the use of durable, Fibra-tek with a debossed topographic map of Vermont’s Kingdom Trails.

    Falcon X

The Falcon X is recommended for riders in search of fore/aft comfort and speed, and also has the distinction of being named an Editors’ Choice by the testers at Bicycling Magazine. In addition to having a larger and longer cutaway than the Butterflies or FLX saddles, the Falcon has an inverted v-wing in the rear to provide a greater degree of flexibility and relief to the tailbone. Lightly padded overall with an elevated rear that gives riders a great perch for power climbs, we recommend it for both road and mountain biking.

    FLX

Our FLX saddles offers the best in split saddle engineering. Perfected by our saddle partners at Selle Italia in Italy, this novel approach allows the saddle a small degree of additional flexibility in addition to relief channel comfort. If you find the Butterfly Saddles are too wide or too padded, this saddle line is an excellent alternative. We recommend the FLX to elite riders who prefer a lightweight, lightly padded saddle, but with the Terry comfort factor dialed in.

    FLX VS FLX Gel

    Corta

When designing the Corta, we set out to create an entirely new shape for performance riders whose cycling style has evolved. Maybe you’re more competitive, riding longer distances or have a new bike that you can’t get comfortable on—this snub-nose beauty could be your solution.

We built the Corta to have a shorter overall length and a dropped nose which combine to eliminate excess surface area, prevent chafing and alleviate pressure. We’ve also engineered it with our largest cutaway, creating the greatest relief channel possible. It’s supportive and flat at the rear so you have a good platform for sustained, seated climbs. In a league of its own, the Corta is aesthetically pleasing and streamlined with textural detail and state-of-the-art technology. If you’re ready to take a step up in comfort engineering and high performance design, the Corta was made for you.

“I bikepacked off-road the Highlands of Scotland for two weeks on this saddle and loved it. A sign that a saddle works right for you is you don’t ever think about your tushy. A bit more generous in width without being too wide, a good cutout to protect those private parts and a shape that eliminated friction makes this my favorite of the Terry saddles.” – Sara B.

TERRY FAST FACT: Some of our saddles, like the Liberator and Cite series, come in hers-and-his variations. The Women’s version will be distinguished by an “X” in its name while the Men’s will be a “Y”—just like the chromosomes!

    Men’s Saddles

    Fly

    Men’s Fly Ti Saddle

Originally introduced in 1999, the Italian-made Fly set the standard for men’s saddle comfort. We’ve sold them to everyone from pro riders to Silicon Valley entrepreneurs. It’s a favorite of RAAM riders and randonneurs, and has been hailed by journalists as one of the most comfortable saddles for men. The Fly is flat across the top and more padded than your typical euro-style racing saddle with complete cutaway and precision-sculpted foam to relieve pressure against sensitive anatomy. Since it has a cult following, we offer the Fly in 6 performance-level models—one for each of the bikes in your garage.

Best Performance: Fly T, Fly Ti Gel , Fly Century and Fly Carbon

    Fly Ti VS Fly Carbon

Fly Ti Gel VS Fly Century

Best Value: Fly Cromoly & Fly Cromoly Gel

    Liberator Y

The dude’s version of the Liberator. It’s one of our best selling series and suits a wide range of riders and comes recommended by folks experiencing a variety of comfort issues. We designed the Liberator Y with a wider rear to be anatomically supportive on lengthy rides or touring where your body position is slightly more upright. Built to deliver a higher degree of comfort, it has a large cutaway through the center and a relief channel of the back for pressure relief and airflow. Additionally, the back panel is shaped to reduce the points of stitching contact between you and your saddle. To satisfy all sorts of riders, we offer the Liberator Y in 5 models, including gel, elite and Italian-made options.

Liberator Y VS Liberator Y Gel VS Liberator Y Elite

Liberator Y Italia VS Liberator Y Gel Italia

    Cite Y Gel

The dude’s version of the Cite. Like the original, the Cite Y Gel was designed for recreational riders who spend a half day on the bike or less, ride nearly upright with lots of weight against the saddle, prefer the closest thing to a pillow or has significant lower back pain. Its completely seamless, heavily contoured top features a layer of gel across the top for an additional level of relief and a large cutaway. Shock-absorbing elastomers molded into the saddle base mirror the effect of springs without any mechanical devices. They also help eliminate vibrations from road or surface that ordinarily get transferred straight to the spine.

Cite Y Gel VS Cite Y Italia

    Falcon Y

Recommended for performance-level riders in search of comfort, the Falcon Y is a great solution for guys who put in lots of miles. In addition to having a larger and longer cutaway than the Fly series, the men’s Falcon has an inverted v-wing in the rear that provides a higher degree of flexibility and relief against sensitive areas. Lightly padded overall and shaped with slight elevation in the rear, it gives you a better perch for power climbing in the saddle. Ride the tarmac or take it off-road, it’s all a comfort from here.

    Unisex Saddles

    Raven

Our Raven saddles were designed to appeal to both female and male riders and uses the latest in vacuum molding technology. This innovative process allows for a sleek, seam-free contact surface and clean integration with the saddle’s substrate base. The benefit—no chafing, no hot spots. It has a narrow profile with dropped nose shaping in front that helps eliminate pressure, and a flat rear that supports your sit bones and boosts power to your pedaling. We’ve also achieved the ideal balance of foam padding with an ergonomic relief channel, making it a very comfortable option for those looking to minimize bulk. The Raven is a slightly longer saddle that gives you more fore-aft positioning range on the bike and it comes with a smooth and durable synthetic cover and the option to ride with a thin layer of gel padding.

    Raven VS Raven Ti Gel

    Liberator Race

The Liberator Race is a maverick. Built for both female and male riders, it defies categorization since it falls between performance and touring with more padding than a race saddle but less mass and a narrower mid-section than a touring saddle. It has a higher rear platform and more of a dropped nose than our other saddles so it’s ideal for strong power riders experiencing lots of sensitivity up front. Endurance riders and ultra-racers have raved about this saddle’s particular shape and level of comfort.

    Terry Gel Saddle Cover

For use in the gym or on the road, our Gel Saddle Cover can be a lifesaver when dealing with bad exercise bikes and bike rental saddles. It features a gel insert that supports and distributes pressure and a strategically placed center depression for relief in the soft tissue zone. It easily secures over standard saddles with a tie tether, delivering instant comfort to any ride.

It gives you the same loose-leg comfort of the original Liberty but in a new featherweight fabric, with a more svelte waistband, an integrated pocket with hidden zipper and our new Flex Air Lite chamois. The Flex Air Lite is perforated for superior ventilation and breathability in high heat conditions, features a slightly thinner layer of multi-density padding than our Flex Air Chamois, and fits tightly against the body without extra bulk between the legs. They’re ideal for rides of most distances and have a 13 inch inseam offering the broadest coverage of any of our bike shorts.

    Hot Flash Bike Short

Best New Bottoms From Brands We Love

    Best New Bibs

    SRK Bike Bibshort

We chose this new bib from Sportful on the basis of fit—on body and on budget. For a very low price, you get a very high level of construction, nice level of padding, ultra-stretchy bib straps, super wide and comfortable legbands and a mesh panel around the waist. The SRK Bib is a fireworks show level of bang for your buck with a high compression fit and a longer, 9.8 inch inseam.

    Unlimited Cargo Bib

    NEW Unlimited Cargo Bib

Long-distance comfort, all-surface durability, and lots of carrying capacity make this a workhorse of a bike bib and a very welcomed addition to our lineup. With Castelli’s premium, high compression Affinity Pro fabric and women-specific KISS Air² Donna seat pad, the Unlimited is first and foremost an all-day riding companion. Drop-tail bib construction allows for convenient nature breaks, and the cargo-style side pockets have a flap over the top to keep your stuff from slipping out. Made of a highly compressive stretch woven fabric to support your hardest efforts, it also uses a super light mesh upper (straps and back) for breathability. Mesh cargo pockets on the leg and back hold all your essentials, and reflective details keep you visible when departure is at dawn or the arrival is after dusk. 8.5 inch inseam

    Best New Performance Short

    Espresso Bike Short

NEW Espresso Short + Snap Bike Tank

We chose the Espresso Short because it gives you a lot of the higher end features that Castelli’s known for, but in a more comfortable package. First, it’s a short, not a bib; second, it’s outfitted with a Progetto X Air Seamless chamois with plenty of padding; third, it has raw-cut leg endings with integrated silicone grip inside so you don’t get the sausage effect; fourth, it’s a super value; and fifth, impressively, it’s made in Italy from Castelli-engineered Espresso Doppio fabric providing a perfect form-fitting, high compression fit and unmatched comfort. 7 inch inseam.

    Best On Bike & Beyond

    Eden 7 Short

NEW Eden 7 Short + Bandara Top

The Eden Short from Club Ride earned our approval with its 7 inch inseam that hits the sweet spot in length (not too long, not too short) and its removable padded liner that allows it to be worn from trails to ales, and anywhere in between, with ease. Its lightweight, wicking and 4-way stretch fabric moves with the body while adjustable, internal velcro straps help you achieve your perfect fit. Built for a life perpetually in motion, the Eden Short has 5 pocket options to keep your essentials close and a gusseted crotch for comfort when in riding position.

    Joy Ride Bike Pant

    NEW Joy Ride Pant

Unpadded to get in on all sorts of action, we picked up this versatile piece from Club Ride because it pairs well with all of our favorite activities. For full trail access they’re made from a wicking, water resistant, recycled fabric with all-way stretch to boost your freedom of movement whether biking or hiking. To blend in with your more casual attire, they feature a stylish tapered fit that won’t get caught up in your drivetrain when commuting to work or play. Ample pockets stash all your riding and everyday needs while the zippered ankle openings make it easy to add a padded liner or knee pads. Lightweight, versatile, and sustainably made, they’re the total package. Graded inseam, 31 inch (sizes S-M); 32 inch (sizes L-XXL).

    Sienna 11 Short

NEW Sienna 11 Shorts + Sara Sunshirt, exclusively available at Terry

When seeking bike and lifestyle wear that matches our fiercely feminine approach, we often turn to our friends at Krimson Klover. Technically turned out to attack MTB trails and gravel roads, the Sienna 11 Short enables full freedom of movement and is versatile enough to use on any kind of outdoor adventure. A high back waist and stretch inserts increase coverage and comfort for our ride or that post-bike drink with the girls, while its 11 inch inseam pairs well with pretty much any bike liner. With moisture wicking properties, four-way stretch, and durable, abrasion-resistant material, this unpadded short is just what we needed for our Spring line.

    Macy Skort

The Macy Skort + Julia Hoody, exclusively available at Terry

The Macy Skort, another crowd-pleaser from Krimson Klover, instantly caught our eye with her versatile nature and flattering front pleats. A testament to their sustainable design practices and commitment to elevating activewear for women, it’s responsibly made with light and stretchy recycled polyester and balances athletic and everyday comfort with its stylish skirt and attached, non-padded mesh inner shorts. Available in your choice of printed Muti Floral or solid Black.

    Ella Pant

Zoic introduced us to their approach to a non-padded bike pant last year and it’s so good, we brought it back for more fun in 2024. Available in sizing up to 3X, the Ella fuses bike utility and comfort and feels great whether you’re riding singletrack, camping and climbing, or just running errands around town. On-the-bike benefits include: quick-dry performance, four-way stretch and liner-friendly fusion inseam gusset for mobility, increased air flow through laser cut venting on inner thighs and knees, elastic cuff at hem to prevent ride up, articulated knees to accommodate knee pads, and 2 zippered leg pockets with internal phone holsters to keep your tech secured. 28 inch inseam.

On the hunt for the perfect padded liner to pair with your baggies or everyday bottoms? Check out our Guide To Bike Liners, here.

    Navaeh Bliss Short

Another bestie from Zoic, the Bliss Short fits like a dream and rides like one, too. It’s got an easeful fit that we love, 5 pockets for stashing snacks and gear, and pull-on styling via a wide knit waistband that eliminates any chance of pinching or binding. The lightweight, stretch woven fabric follows our every move from riding to quick dip in the river and keeps us confidently covered with UPF 50+ sun protection. Sold without a liner and available in sizes XS-3X, the Bliss Short is one of our favorites because it feels like combining our most loved yoga pants with MTB functionality. 11 inch inseam.

  • TERRY ESSENTIALS FOR WINTER WARMTH.

Contributed by Terry Ambassador, Andrea Burtzel.

As a fresh chill graces the air, signaling the arrival of the inaugural snowfall, it’s that time again —bid farewell to the breezy bike shorts and embrace the snug warmth of fleece-lined pants. For those of us who revel in year-round recreation, the right gear is our trusty companion. Living up here in the wilds of Alaska, gear plays a significant role in my adventures. In the summer months, my focus is mountain running, climbing, and biking. But as the long snowy season descends, it’s a seamless gear shift—time to prepare for the thrills of skiing, fat biking, and skating! A special nod of gratitude goes to my sponsors and brand ambassador programs, whose support keeps me happy as I indulge in all things outdoors.

    Trail Running To Winter Running

During the winter, the nights grow longer and the days shorter. Visibility is a major concern if you want to run in the crisp, wintry Alaska darkness. Right now, my go-to jacket is the Terry Hybrid Bike Jacket. Not only do I run visibly, but it’s the perfect protective wind layer for the sometimes audacious weather we face. And let’s not forget the amazing pockets for my on-the-go snacks. Underneath my bright, neon lime magnificence, a baselayer top teams up with Terry’s ultra-warm and fleecy Padless Winter Tight. Pairing a thermal bottom with a top baselayer + a wind-resistant jacket is the perfect mix of cozy and function for conquering those chilly runs without overheating.

    Mountain Biking To Fat Biking

Andrea pictured dashing through the snow in her Winter Bike Tights and Windstopper Split Mitts.

When the fluffy white flakes sprinkle the trail, it’s the official kickoff of fat bike season. Time for gliding through snowy slopes, navigating winding trails, and conquering ice-formed bridges. It’s a winter wonderland on two wheels, and to tackle it, I trust only the warmest padded pants known to humankind—the Terry Winter Bike. These aren’t your average bike tights; they’re serious business. Windproof and water-resistant with a cozy fleece interior and a chamois that feels downright heavenly—this combination is my winter ride essential. I pair them with a wicking baselayer top followed by a carefully chosen puffy and/or shell jacket and the Terry Windstopper Split Mitt to take on the chilliest of Alaskan days.

    Nordic Sports

Alaska is home to some truly spectacular Nordic activities, and whether it’s classic skiing, skate skiing, or the magnificent world of Nordic ice skating, we’ve got it all. Flying down freshly groomed trails on skis or skating on wild ice amidst mountainous valleys calls for the toastiest of mitts—the Terry Windstopper Split Mitt. Crafted with an outer windstopper layer and the inner warmth of PrimaLoft, these mitts are truly glorious and equipped with enough gel padding to protect my hands in case of a fall.

Wishing everyone a high stoke winter season, filled with the joy of gliding through snowy landscapes in all your favorite gear. Let’s be friends! Follow along and be a part of my adventures on Instagram: @andreainalaska

    More About Andrea:

Andrea Burtzel is based out of Chugiak, Alaska and brings a wealth of mountain biking and running experience to the Terry table. Her life revolves around a diverse array of outdoor pursuits, from rock and ice climbing to skiing and cycling. When she’s not playing outside, she’s working toward a degree in Journalism and Public Communications at UAA. This winter, she’s excited for the chance to hone her skills in the Nordic world—whether it’s gliding across frozen lakes on ice skates, competing in skate ski races, or cross-training with fat biking and climbing. In Andrea’s words, “I am deeply passionate about moving my body outdoors—it’s where I find peace, and I love the sense of community that naturally emerges through these diverse sports.

  • A BOATLOAD OF FUN IN GREECE.

    Contributed by Lisa W.

October in Greece offers a perfect setting for a 10-day cycling adventure.  With sunny and dry temperatures in the 70s, lighter crowds and the convenience of island hopping on a wonderful ship, it seemed the ideal time to explore and enjoy Greece to the fullest!

Equipped with a trunk full of Terry gear and my trusty bicycle, I embarked on my journey with Santana Adventures to Athens, a city steeped in history and adorned with captivating ruins.

    Athens bathed in golden light.

Our adventures began in the charming coastal town of Nafplio, where we cycled along the picturesque Myrtoan Sea.  The rolling hills proved to be the perfect remedy for our travel-weary legs.

On day two, we were enchanted by the island of Paros.  It offered us fantastic cycling routes, charming cafes, vibrant shops, and a beautiful evening out in town.

For a change of pace on day three, we embarked on a scenic 6-mile hike from Oia to Fira on the captivating island of Santorini. This route is revered as one of the most beautiful walks on earth.

The trail led us by mesmerizing sights of countless stark white buildings, contrasted with stunning blue doors, perched on high cliffs.

To conclude the day’s outdoor escapades, I opted for a tram ride from the top of Fira to the Aegean Sea. This convenient mode of transportation spared me a slick 580 stair option, which is often shared with donkeys.

On the morning of October 16th, our ship docked in Rhodes, the vibrant capital of the Dodecanese Island group.  Situated in the southeastern Aegean Sea and the eastern Mediterranean, it is an immensely captivating destination just off the coast of Turkey.

Terry tops were everywhere, and our ride was headed to the beautiful Estate Anastasia Triantafyllou Vineyard, where we were treated to a delectable feast of moussaka and other delightful Grecian treats.  Jason, the host, graciously shared his family’s vineyard knowledge, adding a nice, personal touch to the day.

Rhodes’ nightlife was vibrant and pulsating with energy, offering a plethora of choices to suit every taste and preference. The options seemed endless and ensured there was something for everyone to enjoy.

The next day, the enchanting isle of Kos greeted us with breathtaking views and exhilarating climbs.

During our visit to Kos, we had the incredible opportunity to explore the Asclepieion, often referred to as the world’s first hospital. This historical site provided us with a fascinating glimpse into the birth of modern medicine.

Our next destination was Naxos. While on the island we had the pleasure of visiting a sixth-generation potter and were able to experience their timeless artistry firsthand.

We also explored the charming town of Chalki which was riddled with cobbled alleys and vibrant shops.

Our journey continued to the historic mountain town of Aperathos, where it was clear we had veered away from the white-washed buildings that decorate much of Greece and immersed ourselves in the charm of stone and marble architecture.  It was a wonderful change of scenery steeped in Venetian and Turkish history.

After a bustling day of exploration throughout Naxos, we returned to the boat on our very own shuttle tender for a late lunch. While we were dining the ship embarked on a 3-hour tour to the captivating old town of Mykonos.

On October 19th, the women on this cruise gathered in their favorite Terry cycling gear for a memorable afternoon of fun fueled by fashion. The photos captured the spirit of the event, and I am immensely grateful to all who participated, making it a fantastic last-minute rendezvous.

Leaving the Greek islands was undoubtedly difficult, as there is an abundance of sights left to see and a vast history to absorb. I will be back and hope to travel with these wonderful people again, too!

    Αντίο, Greece….until next time.

  • CATCHING UP WITH GEORGENA.

Call us biased, but when it comes to innovators and icons of women’s cycling, we place our founder, Georgena Terry at the top. Not only was she the first to the women’s cycling market when she started Terry Bicycles (circa 1984), over the course of three decades she revolutionized the saddle industry with patented designs for both women and men, launched a pro women’s cycling development team, was named one of four female cycling pioneers by Bicycling magazine, had a documentary filmed about her, started the Wild Goose Chase and got a law degree a few years ago to fuel her efforts in environmental issues. Although she retired from terrybicycles.com several years ago, Georgena has a robust custom bike building business and is still innovating daily on a customer-by-customer basis. We caught up with her recently…

Q: How is life in the world of custom bikes?

GT: Incredibly busy and always challenging since every bicycle is as unique as its rider. I never cease to learn something new with every bike I build. Collaborating on the frame design with Waterford, not to mention working with wonderful customers, bike shops, and fitters is very special.

Q: Most fun project you’ve worked on recently?

GT: They’re all fun, but the standouts are two bikes I built for customers who plan to ride the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route from Canada to Mexico. The bikes have Rohloff drivetrains, generator hubs, and a Gates belt drive. The learning curve was incredibly steep!

Q: You were early to the gravel/touring bike party. What do you think of the explosion in that arena?

GT: It’s great because it attracts new riders to bicycling. These days, there seems to be more and more aversion to riding on the road. Thankfully, bikes have become so much more versatile they can take riders to new venues where the ride feels safer and is certainly visually exciting.

Q: There are some companies out there claiming they’re the first cycling brands dedicate to women. As the true first, and founder of Terry, how do you personally feel about the state of the industry & women’s offerings in 2023?

GT: I find it humorous and rather perplexing that for 35+ years the industry has been debating the validity of “women specific designs.” I’m certainly not arguing that only a WSD will properly fit a woman. It’s fine for some, but not for others. As an industry, we should stop debating this and concentrate on what’s best for our customers. The goal is to get more riders on bikes that fit properly, regardless of how the bike is classified.

Q: Do you still follow pro racing?

GT: You bet — especially the burgeoning women’s side of racing which is exciting and thrilling to watch.

Q: Greatest bike racer of all time?

GT: Greatest can mean so many things — to me, it means the most inspiring. And not just one racer, many — Annemiek van Vleuten, Marianne Vos, Mark Cavendish, Eileen Sheridan, Beryl Burton, Sean Kelly, Chris Froome, Greg LeMond.

    Q: Favorite podcasts?

    GT: My favorites:

    Cyclocross Social Podcast

    Cyclocross Radio

    The Cycling Podcast

    The Move

    The Placeholder

    Matt Stephens Unplugged

    Geraint Thomas Cycling Club

Q: You started the Wild Goose Chase benefit weekend at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. What’s the latest there?

GT: We’re about to open registration for the 2023 Goose which will be held October 7 – 8. Covid was hard on the Goose, so 2023 will be our chance to blossom again. A lot will be going on — bicycling in and around the Refuge, of course, but also a guided bike tour of Harriet Tubman’s haunts in the area, yoga classes, bike maintenance workshops, exhibitors, guided nature rides in the Refuge, and a spaghetti dinner followed by a showing of the new documentary, “Uphill Climb,” about the 1984 Tour de France Féminin. Registration is here: https://www.bikereg.com/wildgoose.

  • CATCHING UP & CLIPPING IN WITH CLAIRE.

Contributed by Terry Ambassador, Claire Baragona, RYT, PICI.

My introduction to indoor cycling came in 2000, after my first hip replacement. Our local YMCA offered indoor cycling, and I found it just the right fit for my cardiovascular conditioning and the new way I needed to approach activity following recovery. It had sadly come time to bid adieu to horseback riding and my snow skis, but I welcomed indoor cycling wholeheartedly.

EZ Rider Cycling Instructor and Terry Brand Ambassador Claire Baragona

In 2018, I began spending my winters in a wonderful active adult community in sunny Tucson, AZ. There, I joined our EZ Riders Indoor Cycling Club, where the health benefits and camaraderie are tandem and create a win /win environment. Becoming a member of this community inspired me to take my spinning to the next level and so I began studying for my Indoor Cycling Instructors Exam. By January 2020, I was excited to start leading my classes and sharing my energy and expertise with fellow riders. However, two months later the world was shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Deterred but not defeated, the EZ Riders took to the outdoors and we began offering small open-air and socially-distanced classes. These outdoor spin classes in the steamy Arizona climate presented new challenges but we persevered through the lockdown and were finally able to reintroduce indoor riding safely in 2021.

My teaching style focuses on making indoor cycling accessible to all. I work with a lot of beginners and individuals who have a variety of physical compromises and it is my goal to break down the barriers between them and the bike. I had the same interest when I taught yoga; I believe it is important to offer people the benefits of an activity and make the necessary modifications to have it fit their needs and abilities. A few years ago I developed allergy-related asthma, so now spinning isn’t just something I love to do— it’s integral for maintaining my lung capacity. That benefit alone allows me to enjoy golf and hiking at higher elevations out here in the mountains of Tucson. I love teaching and sharing the benefits of riding so others too can live their best life both on and beyond the bike.

Many of the students who start as newbies to indoor cycling transition to higher-intensity classes and even become instructors themselves, but we encourage all members to spin/work to their unique ability. My best advice to new spinners or anyone interested in riding is to always listen to your body for feedback, take advantage of your instructor’s knowledge by asking questions, and understand that any new activity will have a learning curve— especially for seniors—but there’s no time like the present to start spinning.

Another essential for sticking with spinning is having support from proper indoor cycling gear. I personally cannot spin without padded bottoms and my go-to choices are Terry’s Actif Bike Knicker and Bike Bermuda Short. The side pocket on the Bike Bermuda is lovely and I like that the fit and fabric of both the Bermuda and Actif are extremely comfortable and non-binding. All the tops I use for spinning also come from Terry. I am partial to the styles with pockets in the back and let the weather dictate my sleeve length. I like going with Terry’s relaxed-fit “Flow” styles, as they suit my mature body type and are very forgiving. I always recommend Terry to new students and suggest they speak with Terry’s amazing Customer Service Team to find what apparel or saddle will best suit them. Terry’s Customer Service is so knowledgeable about their products and always advises on proper fit.

I was recently asked about my role models and what motivates me. Especially as we face all sorts of obstacles as we age…. health issues, family situations, and losing our partners and other loved ones. When faced with an obstacle, I’m thankful to two women in particular who have helped shape the person I am today. First is my own mother, who truly gave all her children ‘roots and wings’. She taught me that the best way you can learn to fly is by knowing how much support there is behind you. I often hear women ( cringe ) and say “ I’m becoming my mother!” Well, I certainly hope I do…she was the most wonderful role model for me.
My mother-in-law is another exceptional woman. She developed Parkinsonism in middle age and faced every challenge with grace. She had a fierce determination to live well and give back to her community. She was a wellspring of love and support and a practicing psychologist with arms open to the word. Their encouragement, generosity, and determination have inspired me in many ways. I also hold admiration for the many women who have “broken the glass ceiling” in areas of science, health, and legislature that have helped bring women forward to a better place in our culture. There is a special place in my heart for the Notorious RBG, who quietly and determinedly brought about changes in laws that have positively impacted women in this country for decades. All the women remind me that by standing beside each other, riding beside each other—we can accomplish so much good in the world.

I want to thank the team at Terry for their continued interest in the lives and stories of the women who rely on the Terry brand for their wonderful products and insight into the indoor/outdoor cycling community. You make our clothing choices functional, comfortable, and colorful. Kudos to you all!
